Today is my first day as a part time CEO. My mission with being a part time CEO is to prove to myself and the world that I can start, build, and grow a company outside my 9–5 job.

My larger mission in life is to empower anyone to make technology that works for everyone. If you know me, you know that I define technology as any tool that augments our ability to achieve a goal. So pretty much anything human-made is a technology. An I want to start by sharing my professional experience that I have cultivated over a career that spanned multiple graduate degrees, and professional experience at top technology companies including, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and AWS.

I am passionate about teaching people. I have taught computer and design classes at both the graduate and undergraduate level at the University of Washington for four years. And now, I want to help people discover their creative identities.

I recently wrote a blog post about being a Renaissance Technologist. A term I defined to describe myself. I have seen some other terms that I identify with like multipotentialite, a polymath, and a renaissance man. Some people might describe us as a “jack of all trades, master of none.” I like to think of myself as a jack of a lot of trades, master of some. As a renaissance technologist, I identified 7 areas of knowledge that make up almost anything. I think of them as a knowledge framework. So in my pursuit to create and run my company studio89.design, I used these 7 areas of knowledge as buckets for my action items. Themes to group activities and help me stay focused in one area at a time to avoid context switching and be more productive. And I plan on using this framework to help you discover your creative identity and thrive personally and professionally.

What is Studio89

With the mission of enabling anyone to make technology that works for everyone, Studio89 offers eduction in the form of online course, productivity tools in the form of software and maybe hardware. Studio89 is an umbrella under which we will deliver technologies that work for anyone regardless of their abilities. I know this description is broad and can be applicable to almost anything and to be successful you need to niech down. Here is my vision for Studio89, nieching down doesn’t mean avoiding ideas and opportunities because they don’t fit our niech. Our niech is our philosophy of Everything is Design, our approach in breaking information into the 7 areas of knowledge, and following the Design Thinking process to create one thing after another whenever we encounter a pain point that we can solve for someone.

See you soon

Did you read anything in this post that you think you’ll want to implement in your life? If so, what was it? how are going to implement it?

I’ll write here again soon and give a progress update. Until then, remember, everything is designed.
